A celebration of Martyn Turnbull's life

Martyn died suddenly but peacefully, aged 51 years, at home, on Wednesday 22nd April 2026. A celebration of Martyn's life will be held at Mortonhall Crematorium, Main Chapel, on Tuesday 2nd June at 2pm.

We might have grown apart but there was still a place for you in my heart ❤️ I hope you've joined that big brass band in the sky with all the legends and are bangin that biss bass drum at ff!! Rest in peace 'Bob' 🟡

Martyn at last years IBBSS, he loved everything Percussion and Brass Banding, we would talk daily about gin and banding. It was a pleasure to Tutor Martyn and at this year course we will be raising a glass and dedicating a piece of music to you too.

Martyn told me his work mates joked that he only played the triangle, so when we discovered that my uncle is one of said colleagues, we sent him this photo. Martyn was always up for a good laugh and I'll dearly miss hearing him say "Hello trouble!"

Martyn will be sadly missed. In the 10 years that I knew him as a fellow musician, he always took the time to talk to me, showed an interest in my life and always had kind things to say, even if it was at the front of a bus! Rest in peace Martyn.
